Q.1. What is Computer?

Ans. Computer a word comes from Latin Word Compute which means calculation. A computer is an electronic device, operating under the control of instructions (Software) stored in its own memory unit, that can accept Data (input), manipulate Data (process), and produce information (output)  from the processing. The important feature of computer is its Storage Capability which can store the information and Data when required. The first computer was developed in the United States of America in 1940.  Computers are now used in almost all branches of Human activities.

Types of Computers:

• Personal Computer
• Mini Computer
• Main Frame Computer
• Super Computer

Personal Computer:

Personal Computer allows a user to run only one person present time. It is small in size. It is use simple user personal computer use in offices.

Mini Computer:

Mini Computer allows a user to run two or more applications on the same time. It is being small to a personal computer Mini Computer also provides Multi User. It is used in Hospitals.

Main Frame Computer:

Main Frame Computer are more than Mini Computer. It is use to multiple user use in Main Frame Computer at a time sharing operating system allows two or more users access.

Super Computer:

It is a very fast computer. It is used large Organist and governments.

How do Computer Work?

1. Input:
   This is when information is entered into a computer. Some common input devices include, Keyboard, Mouse and Scanner.
2. Output:
   This is when information that comes out from a computer after it has been processed. The information comes out on the output devices such as printer or compute monitor.
3. Processing:
   This is when the information is handled by the computer’s brain known as CPU (Central Processing Unit).
4. Storage:
   This is when the information is stored in Hard Disk and other media is called storage.
