1 – Adage – लोकोक्ति

Meaning – old saying that has come to be accepted as truth over time.

Usage – “the old adage ‘out of sight out of mind’”

2 – Pernicious – तेज़

Meaning – having a harmful effect, especially in a gradual or subtle way.

Usage – “the pernicious influences of the mass media”

Synonyms – harmful, damaging, destructive, injurious, hurtful, detrimental, deleterious, dangerous, adverse, inimical, unhealthy, unfavourable, bad, evil, baleful, wicked, malign, malevolent, malignant, noxious, poisonous, cancerous, corrupting, ruinous, deadly, lethal, fatal; literarymalefic, maleficent; archaicpestilent, pestilential, baneful, pestiferous.

3 – Meticulous – सूक्ष्म

Meaning – showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise.

Usage – “the designs are hand-glazed with meticulous care”

4 – Reconcile – समाधान करना

Meaning – restore friendly relations between.

5 – Contours – आकृति

Meaning – an outline representing or bounding the shape or form of something.

Usage – she traced the contours of his face with her finger”

6 – Acuity – दृष्टि की तिक्षणता

Meaning – sharpness in relation to thought, vision, or hearing

Usage – intellectual acuity”

7 – Variance – झगड़ा

Meaning – the fact or quality of being different, divergent, or inconsistent.

Usage – “her light tone was at variance with her sudden trembling”

Synonyms – difference, variation, discrepancy, dissimilarity, disagreement, conflict, divergence, deviation, contrast, distinction, contradiction, imbalance, incongruity.

8 – Wither – कुम्हलाना

Meaning – (of a plant) become dry and shrivelled.

Usage – “the grass had withered to an unappealing brown”

Synonyms – wilt, become limp, droop, fade; shrivel (up), dry up; die, perish; technicalbecome marcescent.

9 – Womanish – स्रैण

Meaning – (of a man) effeminate; unmanly.

Usage – “Burden thought him a weak womanish fool”

10 – Rapt – मगन

Meaning – completely fascinated or absorbed by what one is seeing or hearing.

Synonyms – fascinated, enthralled, spellbound, captivated, riveted, gripped, mesmerized, enchanted, entranced, charmed, bewitched, transported, enraptured; thrilled, ecstatic, rapturous; informalblissed out.
